Not Just Any God- The God of the Bible

Believing that “a god” exists isn’t enough.

The question is: Who is He?

What is He like?

And can I actually know Him?

Everyone believes in something—whether it’s a god, the universe, themselves, or nothing at all. But the Bible doesn’t leave room for guesswork. It gives us a clear, specific, and consistent portrait of who the one true God is.

What the Bible Says About God’s Nature

The God of the Bible is not distant, random, or made in our image. He is absolute, infinite, and unchanging. He is not who you want Him to be—He is who He is.

I AM WHO I AM
— Exodus 3:14

Here Are 10 Core Attributes of God:

  1. Sovereign – He has absolute authority over all things (Psalm 103:19)

  2. Righteous – He is perfect in character and action (Psalm 11:7)

  3. Just – He always judges rightly and fairly (Deuteronomy 32:4)

  4. Love – He desires relationship and gave Himself for us (1 John 4:8)

  5. Eternal Life – He has no beginning and no end (Isaiah 40:28)

  6. Omniscient – He knows everything, including every thought (Hebrews 4:13)

  7. Omnipotent – Nothing is impossible for Him (Jeremiah 32:17)

  8. Omnipresent – He is everywhere at once (Psalm 139:7–10)

  9. Immutable – He never changes (Malachi 3:6)

  10. Veracity – He is absolute truth (John 17:17)

These aren’t vague concepts. They’re the unchanging essence of God, and every one of His actions flows perfectly from these attributes.

This Changes Everything

Most people form their view of God based on:

Emotions

Past religious experience

Cultural Ideas

What they “feel” God should be like

But emotions don’t define reality. Truth does!

God is not a mystery to be solved. He’s a Person to be known, and He has revealed Himself through creation and Scripture so that no one has to guess.

The Most Stunning Truth?

This perfect, eternal, holy God… wants you to know Him.

He is not far from each one of us
— Acts 17:27

He doesn’t want religion from you.

He wants a relationship with you.

But there’s a barrier between you and him, and in the next session, we’ll talk about why that matters.
